Today I'm happy to review BenQ PD2710QC Designer Monitor.

I'm impressed by the quality and ease of use of this product. Last year I bought the new 13-inch MacBook Pro which comes with the new USB-C ports. It can cause some problems when charging my phone or connecting my camera but it can be solved with an adaptor.

When I travel I'm limited to my laptop screen to get my work done. It's fine for writing but for design work, photo and video editing it gets quite frustrating.

PD2710QC is the first BenQ monitor with the USB-C built-in docking station making it more convenient than older monitors.

Right now, I'm staying in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania where I rent a studio apartment for the summer and have space to get to work on this stunning 27-inch 2K QHD monitor.

Here's my experience with the monitor so far.

It's BenQ's first 27-inch 2K QHD monitor with USB-C connectivity.

You can place your notebook underneath the display with its built-in USB-C Docking Station and get a range of connectivity options without the messy cables.

The screen is gorgeous with 100% sRGB color space coverage and 2K IPS screen technology. The monitor has an extensive range of design modes making the PD2710QC the must-have display for creative professionals.

Design

Monitor's simple design will fit into anyone's workspace nicely. I like clean and uncluttered space to get my work done and this monitor is just that.

Being a perfectionist I must see the full picture as well as the little details to create my best work. BenQ PD2710QC offers greater image detail (109 PPI) and crystal clear pictures with 2K QHD (2560x1440) resolution which provides 77% more working space than a Full HD display.

It's getting technical, but all BenQ Designer Monitors in the PD series are Technicolor Color Certified, ensuring consistent and accurate colors for an impressive color performance.

To avoid messy cables, you can simply connect your MacBook to the docking station via USB-C cable and you will get not only the visual experience but also power to charge your notebook. Other reviewers noted that it may be too weak for the 15-inch MacBook Pro but it works perfectly fine with mine 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Ease of Use

It all comes disassembled but it takes no more than 5 minutes from unboxing to connecting it to your MacBook. I like how easy it is to connect your laptop, place it under the screen and start working.

I need to mention that I use an external keyboard and mouse which makes it incredibly convenient. It is still possible to use your laptop's keyboard and mouse if you want to.

Now, the ergonomics part of this screen is amazing. I'm highly concerned about my posture and long sedentary hours. Using this monitor you can adjust the screen to be as high or low as you want. It's extremely important as incorrect posture can cause severe neck, shoulders and back pain. Its wide viewing angle and anti-glare screen make it easy for your eyes.

Features

USB-C docking station. For those who strive for a clutter-free space, the slim and reversible USB-C cable and connector allows your notebook to tap into the dock’s wide range of connectivity options. Charge your device, transfer data, transmit audio and video, and connect to the Internet, all through the convenience of one cable.

I found it hard to use the hidden buttons on the back.

USB power delivery. Power and charge your laptop, tablet or mobile phone through the USB-C cable and connector (up to 61 W).

SuperSpeed USB. Enjoy fast data transfer rates up to 5 Gbps.

2K QHD video display. Display 2K QHD video from your notebook over a single USB-C connector and cable.

Display

The display is amazing. I love the thin bezel design and anti-glare finish. Looks very solid.

However, my eyes caught that pixels are bigger than on my laptop. 13-inch MacBook Pro has 227 pixels per inch display where this monitor has only 109 pixels per inch which is roughly 2 times less. It's not an issue. After half an hour of work on the monitor, my eyes adjusted and it wasn't as obvious.

I played a little with different monitor display modes and found useful modes for different work scenarios. Also, it's designed to take care of your eyes.

CAD/CAM mode. Offers superior contrast on lines and shapes of technical illustrations, bringing out the smallest details to view. For an incredible display performance, pair CAD/CAM mode with Pro/E, SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, CATIA or other CAD/CAM software.

Animation mode. Dark areas of images often become a problem for designers working with intricate designs. Animation mode enhances the brightness of dark areas without over-exposing bright image areas.

Darkroom mode. Adjusts the brightness and contrast of images giving clarity and sharpness to details, creating the optimal setting for work in darker post-processing environments. Animation mode offers 10 levels of display brightness so you can see every detail clearly in any ambient lighting.

Low blue light. BenQ’s Low Blue Light technology is designed to filter out harmful blue light, effectively diminishing eye fatigue and irritation.

Flicker-free. Stable feedback technology prevents the harmful effects of flickering from tiring or damaging the eyes.

Anti-glare display. An anti-glare, matte-finish display keeps distracting reflections to a minimum, so designers can work on tasks comfortably with well-improved efficiency.

Price

BenQ PD2710QC 27-Inch Designer Monitor costs $599. You can get it on Amazon or BenQ website. In my opinion, it's quite expensive for a monitor that is not 4K. Add extra $100-200 and you can get a 27-inch 4K monitor.

If you're low on budget and want a solid monitor for creative work, BenQ PD2710QC can be a good choice.
